Becca's Bio

I am a painter, based out of Harrisburg, PA. My art work comes from a mix of traditional training and self-taught techniques.  The majority of my work is done with either acrylic or watercolor. Currently I am working more with watercolor(Holbein being my current art-crush), and have found that it has opened-up whole new worlds of creative possibility. My main influences at this point are classic pin-ups of the 30's, 40's, and 50's, as well as traditional illustration, modern pop-art, and a fair amount of manga/anime. I spend a lot of time trying to learn and understand the media I work with, and treat painting as much as a full-time job, if not an obsession, as I can. Acrylics and watercolor, being very fast in nature, can actually lend the artist a lot of creative freedom. I think the greatest thing about working with water-based media, and watercolors specifically, though, is that they are just too much darned fun!

I have been selling my art work primarily through The 2nd Floor Gallery and Gallerie 13 in Mechanicsburg for the last seven years, garnering my own particular following in that area.  I have also done many commissioned works, primarily portraits, usually done in graphite and pastel.  Through use of modern technology(i.e. Websites and internet networking) I am looking to not only expand my clientelle but also my understanding of myself as an artist.

I'm still not sure where my particular "artistic vision" is going to take me, but I'm hoping it will be somewhere good. Either way, I'm going to keep right on following it...

Please feel free to contact me for more information in regards to my work or to inquire about possible commissions.
